iWebFAQ.org E-Book

My very own mission and the goal of this E-Book is to show you what you can do in iWeb in addition to the obvious things. Explain in plain English without using unnecessary technical jargon how to achieve the effect you want in steps which are simple to follow even with no technical knowledge. In other words the goal is to provide you the tools to easily get more out of iWeb.

In addition to the content of the iWebFAQ.org website the iWebFAQ.org E-Book also includes instructions about: Auto-Fading photos slideshow, Random text or images (or random anything else), Floating menu (or float anything else), Sliding image menu, Accordion menu, Anchors (links to specific spot on a page), Background slideshow, Five Star rating system (Bonus Chapter) and much more… which are not discussed on the website.

The book will also save you a lot of time since you don’t have to spend your time searching for a solution on Google and figure out how it works anymore. It’s all there. And if it isn’t you could suggest me to include a chapter about it in a future update.

FAQ about this book:

Does this book work with iWeb ’09? Yes, the book was written with iWeb ’09 in mind.
Does this book work with iWeb ’08? Yes, between iWeb ’08 and iWeb ’09 there are almost no difference at all. The only difference is that in iWeb ’09 you can publish sites to different locations and in iWeb ’08 all sites get published to the same location.
Does this book work with iWeb ’06? Yes, but since iWeb ’06 has no HTML Snippets you have to add all the codes with what I call Alternative HTML (Chapter 2). Nevertheless everything should work just fine, I always use Alternative HTML instead of HTML Snippets. If you want to have multiple sites with iWeb ’06 you need to have multiple Domain files.
How can I get updates? All you have to do is go to the Contact page, type in your e-mail address in the “Automatic Update or Fresh Download Link Request” form and you will get an e-mail with a link for you to download the latest version of the book. The current version of the book is found at the top of each page of my website. If you would like to get notified of updates join RapidWeaverFAQ.org on Facebook or Twitter.

Esiste una versione in italiano di questo libro? Purtroppo no.

Gibt es dieses Buch auch auf Deutsch? Leider nein.

  1. I’m delighted to see that I’m the first one to recommend Cédric’s wonderful E-book. I never bought E-books before and never intended to. But when I saw the iWebFaq.org website and the precious tips you gave to iweb users, I didn’t hesitate one second. Simply put, it’s a wealth of information that will certainly save you hours on the phone with Apple support. Thank You from the bottom of my heart. The iWebFAQ.org eBook is a MUST HAVE!

  2. Priceless! Thank you so much cedric, for this fantastic book. I also have never purchased an e book before… but it’s worth every penny (and more!)

  3. I bought your e-book through paypal… When will I get it? Paypal indicates you were paid, but no book…
please send it, it looks to be a great book.
    thanks

  4. Hi Brian,
as written on the “About” you should have received an e-mail reading “Thank you and download links” in the subject.
On that e-mail you find the link where you can download the E-Book. SImply click on it and the download will start automatically.

    Cédric

  5. Hi Cédric,

    thanks for the update.

I really love your e-book and also the website.

    You are a genius.

  6. Just bought the E-book. Looks great !
I had an unresolved question on Apple’s discussion forum since Oct 2007 on results on search engines. Yet here in the E-book I finally found good recommendations and guidance.
Keep up the good work Cedric, Thanks !
    Tom

  7. As previously, the new version of your book is very impressive. Thorough, thoughtful, and seemingly complete.

Your book could be published in the series of books “The Missing Manual”.

  8. Thanks Cedric, very useful ebook, it has saved me a few hours of surfing and messing around trying to find a few answers I was looking for. Very much appreciated.

  9. I have only spent 15 minutes browsing Cedrics book but already I have $15 worth of very usable code. I primarily use Dreamweaver but really like iWeb’s ease of use. Now that I will be able to access many more features, I can deliver those “smaller” low budget jobs much easier. Thanks.

  10. There are few great resources out there for people who want to take iWeb to greater heights. Cedric’s book and his website have been huge timesavers. I hesitated for a bit and realized I was struggling through many google searches when all the while, much of what I was searching for had already been researched and included in the book. I highly recommend it whether you’re a novice or already know many of the tricks. Clear and concise, I highly recommend!

  11. I bought your ebook for iweb today. It was a leap of faith for me to make the purchase but I am so pleased I did. Your explanations are simple and easy to follow and they actually work. I have fart assed about forums for hours and found nothing clear and nothing that worked. You rock Cedric! The best $15.00 I have spent in a long time
299 pages of excellent ideas and tricks…. that was a wonderful surprise.

    Thank you
    Robyn

  12. This book was the most wonderful thing I ever bought (except for my IMac). I can’t tell you how many compliments I’ve gotten so far from my clients about my website. And most of the compliments come from ideas and extension I created from your E-book!

But by far, the best part of the book, is that you actually take the time to answer the questions we post! This is the most invaluable part. I really do appreciate all your help and all the time you invest putting this book together!

Thanks again and everytime I’m in the Apple store and see people working on their website, I let them know about your book!

    Keep it up!

    Regards!

    Nicky

  13. I’ve only been using this e-book for a few days but it has already solved many questions for me; thanks Cédric. I’ve just been asked to prepare a website for a local museum as a volunteer effort; I expect this site and the book will prove to be essential tools.

  14. Seriously – the best money I’ve ever spent…

No apologies ever needed for me!!!

Thank you for all your hard work

  15. Cedric, I just want You to know that Your e-book is a real LIFESAVER. You explain things down to the basic level which really has helped me out ALOT. I am sure that many people out there agree. I have never regretted buying your book – I only wish that I could find a printer to get it printed a lot cheaper because I use both – hardcopy and pdf whenever I come across a problem. You asked for feedback with the new update download and here it is. Praise God for Your good work, you’ve really helped out a LOT!!!!

  16. Hi Cedric, I enjoy this manual you have created for iWEB. A great addendum to what iWEB provides within the program. I have been working with iWEB for the last 2+years and agree that at some point iWEB needs to get to the next level deeper in WEB development, we will see. Keep up the good work and I will be using your manual on a regular basis.

    Thanks Gerry

  17. This book has been of great value to me in customizing my website. Cedric has made it much easier to do things like use shadowbox, and create more interesting pages without having to know all the codes. As a creative person who updates the site often, I find it easy to use this book as reference when I need to update video or picture files, or find easy and cool ways of presenting my content. WELL WORTH the money because as he says, Cedric updates this often. I only wish I’d discovered this before I spent hours trolling the web for answers. Thanks for making this and keep up the great work!

  18. Hello Cedric,

Your book has enabled me to craft a great website for my company! Whenever I want to add a special feature to my iweb website I just do a quick ‘find’ search in the ebook and there it is!
Your book is of great value for those who want to create their own website without much prior knowledge of html website design. iweb is a great tool – and your book is the great companion that enables the user to have confidence in constructing their own website.

Thanks again! Keep up the great work!

    Best Regards,

    Clint

  19. I’m afraid I do have one criticism on your book which, for me, is a major one. In addition to the contents pages I would like to see an index. If I’m trying to find out how to do something I like to be able to find it out quickly and it’s a pain having to trawl through the contents pages to try and find what I’m looking for. I’ve printed a copy of your E-Book as I prefer to work from a hard copy on my desk when I’m actually using iWeb on the screen.

  20. Hi Liz,

The reason why I made content pages to be used as the index of the book and not an alphabetical index is that people may not know how something is called and by reading the titles they may be able to guess “Oh! That looks like what I was looking for”. Also various effects have multiple names. In version 1.7b I reduced the number of content pages by 50% which for you means you have to look through only half the pages to find what you’re looking. I hope this is good news for you.

As another tip I would recommend you to read only the bigger sized titles when you’re looking for something, no need to read the smaller ones in the contents pages until you found what you’re looking for. This also saves you a lot of reading time.

Last but not least you can make use of he Cmd+F command. If say you’re looking for “Rollover” or “Slideshow” you just open the book in Preview, hit Cmd+F, type in Rollover in the find field, hit tab and there you go.

    Regards,
    Cédric

  21. Thank you for continuing to update this excellent resource.

  22. I have found this e-book really helpful, and would recommend it to everyone starting out, or otherwise with their Mac and iWeb.
The author regularly does free updates. For the sake of just a few pounds it is a reference point that is always available to refer to, in my mind it’s not only a bargain, but an essential item!

  23. Many thanks Cédric,

Keep up the superb work, I look forward to it.

Kindest regards and a healthy and happy 2011 to you.

    Chris

  24. I am glad to come across this as it looks like a great source of information and will be very useful!

    Thank you,
    Maja K.

  25. Thank you for the update Cédric. I’m looking forward to reading this one too. Your book is a great reference for me to use when working on a website in iWeb.

  26. First of all I just can say that your customer service surpasses any other supplier I have dealt with. Your book is a great source of information and the regular updates are much appreciated. I have recommended your book to many others.

  27. I really love the book it has helped me tremendously …. Even just getting better with Mac OS.

  28. Thanks Cédric!

This is one of the most useful guides apple mac never produced…!!!!
They should be ashamed..and employing you!

    Dave

  29. Dear Cédric,

Thank you very much for sending me the updated book. When I bought your book I had no idea that you would update it so regularly. It seems that, by just paying 15 dollars, I signed up to a life long updates. I cannot believe how great this service is. I am so impressed by your book and website, and above else, by your willingness to help all the time.

I knew nothing of a website making till last March when my church in London decided to build a website. The site was built by somebody else but I took over as its webmaster since September, so I learnt how to use iWeb. I was so relieved to discover your site, and your site and book have become my essential guide. I cannot thank you enough, Cédric!

  30. Thanks so much for the update. more info than I’ll have time to use or access in this lifetime.

  31. Cédric –

Words can’t express how grateful I am for having purchased your iWebFAQ.org E-Book. It’s like having a 24/7 iWeb coach. I completely revised one of the main products page on my website using your code for iFrames. I could not be happier with the results.

  32. Cedric helped me out with his answers on his forum and kept me from tearing my hair out over my own idiotic mistakes in iWeb! So…..I am buying his book, for sure it will help with so many other things. Cheers Cedric, now go buy yourself a pizza!

    Brian

  33. Thanks for all the work you put into this – my entire business site is in iWeb and couldnt have done it without you!

  34. I was prepared to pay you $3 for the help that you gave me on setting up the “add to cart” buttons. Just so much time saved using your simple instructions. I was so thankful that someone just simple answered my question. Geez! Is that too much to ask!?
Now, I need to add a FedEx small biz account for shipping, and a “view cart” button so that I can just get the bare minimum going. Then I really need to customize Paypal’s page for my business as they let businesses, but I don’t even know how to make a file secure (into and https:// . . .) I know I should be using DreamWeaver but we can not afford to buy any other program right now. But YOUR book, that is money well spent, I’m certain. — A “Before-She-Even-Uses-All-The-Information” FAN!

  35. I received your email and the download worked perfectly. Thanks for the help and for writing the ebook. I know it will save me a lot of time. Keep up the good work.

    Bill

  36. Hi. I was pleasantly surprised to find your website and couldn’t believe my eyes as I read what’s included in your e-book. I woke up this morning with purchasing this book on my mind. I just wanted to tell you I only hoped that such a resource was available — then I found your website! I look forward to being more creative because of your e-book — thanks so much.
